Am I exited about Interaction Whiteboard? Who will not
benefit from white board?
Interactional white board does not make me exited. Not sure
if it is because I have never use one or because they are almost just like an
Elmo to me. I have read information about all the things it can do, which
sounds like fun. As I was reading about them I was concerning about the shy
students and who do not like to collaborate much in the classroom. Those
students will be left out with this tool. When I was doing my teacher assisting
there where a few students who prefer working by themselves and I respected
that.
Hello Josefina,
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to the interaction whiteboard and Elmo, I feel that they are totally separate. Yes depending on the activity, but teachers need better resource or even need to be taught how to use the boards effectively.
I also liked your concerns about the students that are shy. I haven't really thought about that. We will just have to find a way that all the students are being involved and learning at the same time. That comment really opened up my eyes, because for some reason I just thought that all the students would want/like to participate, but we know that is rare.
That you for letting me see with these new eyes.

Yes, I have had a lot of experience with shy students. When I did my Teacher Assistant I used to prepare a lot of interactive lesson plans to keep all students collaborating, but that did not happen. There was two boys that I could tell they where very shy so I did something a little different for them, because I did not want to push them to do what I wanted them to do. They happily did the work that I provided for them. I know that I spend extra time doing this but it was worth watching them learn!
ReplyDeleteIts good to involve all students, but in their own way. The teachers know their students and what the students are comfortable of doing.
DeleteThat is one of the drawbacks of current IWBs: only one person can use it at a time. Soon, they're releasing new versions with multi-touch.
